About this site
The Neptune Moon
Neptune Moon is a structured transparency tool for everyday purchasing decisions.
We organize publicly available corporate and product-level data into a clear, usable framework — helping you compare brands within a category and avoid the worst-of-the-worst options.
This is not a moral purity project.
It’s a clarity project.
What It Does
Neptune Moon helps you:
- Compare products within a category (e.g., chocolate, cereal, steak)
- Identify major red flags across structural, labor, environmental, and health dimensions
- Filter out brands you prefer to avoid
- Choose higher-floor alternatives when possible
You don’t need to opt out of the system.
You can choose better within it.
What It Measures
Every purchase carries impact beyond the price tag. Neptune Moon evaluates signals such as:
- Agricultural emissions (including methane, land-use change, and deforestation exposure)
- Water usage and stress risk
- Packaging waste and material intensity
- Labor conditions in supply chains
- Ultra-processed food risk and nutritional quality
- Corporate scale and market concentration
- Disclosure integrity and accountability mechanisms
Each product or brand is assessed across five impact layers:
- Structural Impact
- Labor & Supply Chain
- Environmental Risk
- Nutritional & Processing Risk
- Transparency & Accountability
Scores are calculated relative to peers within the same category. Severe weaknesses are penalized more heavily than isolated strengths. The goal is balance — not perfection.
Data & Method
Neptune Moon aggregates publicly available data from:
- Corporate sustainability and regulatory disclosures
- Human rights benchmarks (e.g., KnowTheChain and related accountability research)
- Environmental reporting initiatives (e.g., CDP, Science Based Targets initiative)
- Market concentration and ownership data
- Nutrition labels and ingredient lists
- Independent research on agricultural supply chains and commodity risk
Where verified third-party data is unavailable, structured proxies may be used.
Raw inputs and scoring logic are shown where possible.
Missing data is not treated as excellence.
What This Is Not
- Not an investment platform
- Not a blacklist
- Not a universal moral score
Neptune Moon does not claim to measure moral truth.
It provides a structured comparison framework so you can make informed tradeoffs with less noise and less overwhelm.
Every purchase already reflects tradeoffs — between price, convenience, nutrition, labor conditions, environmental impact, and corporate power.
Those tradeoffs usually remain invisible.
Neptune Moon makes them visible.
You decide what matters.
The framework provides clarity.
